Petersburg, Indiana, August 27, 2024 –The Meadows at Parkview Subdivision is the first single-family subdivision that has occurred in Petersburg, Pike County in over 35 years. This subdivision includes 60 acres of land that has been annexed into the City of Petersburg for all future development phases, and is set up into a residential TIF district, for future phases of the development. Phase one of the development includes infrastructure, excavation, a multi-use pathway leading to the City Park with new playground equipment, and 24 attractive lots ready for new home construction. As the subdivision is completely built out there will be a total of 102 new single-family homes.
“After we completed a Housing Study in 2018, this site was identified as the top priority for a new single-family subdivision,” Petersburg Mayor R.C. Klipsch said. “The City of Petersburg is grateful for this investment into Petersburg and the opportunity to grow our community as we strive to increase more housing and quality of life initiatives for future generations.”
The Indiana First Region awarded READI 1.0 funds to this project of $1,239,220, with matching funding from Pike County, City of Petersburg and the new homes to be constructed. Pike County is part of the Indiana First Region, which received a $15 million READI 1.0 allocation.
“The availability of housing is critical to a community’s quality of place and continued economic and population growth,” said Indiana Secretary of Commerce David Rosenberg. “This new Meadows at Parkview subdivision will create more quality housing options for current and future residents in Petersburg and the surrounding area. These types of investments being made through READI are driving our communities forward and ensuring increased opportunities for Hoosiers of today and tomorrow.”
The Meadows at Parkview Subdivision has had several partners to bring more residential inventory to our community with the City of Petersburg, Pike County, Indiana First Region, Rio Blanco Estates, Reinbrecht Homes, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Residential development is a priority for Pike County Economic Development Corporation and our partners as this will contribute to an increase in population growth, more families, and an increase in assessed value. This residential development is in a prime location that lends itself to young families that can utilize the quality-of-life amenities such as the playground equipment, seasonal splash pad, nature trail, and access to the 5-mile Fitness Trail. Petersburg and Pike County hold a distinctive location on I-69 within the heart of the regional manufacturing hub, making it an attractive destination for new families.
